Natalie Gauci Goes A Little Bit Country A Little Bit Pop With Her New Single

Multi-award-winning Australian singer-songwriter Natalie Gauci makes a welcome return to the airwaves this month with her catchy new country-fused pop track ‘I Thought It Was You’.

Co-written with popular country music artist and former Baby Animals bassist Matt Cornell, ‘I Thought It Was You’ is a song about Natalie’s biggest and most heartbreaking end to a relationship she has ever experienced.

Natalie explains: “I was stuck in a relationship in New York that was hurting my heart and also not healthy for me being five months pregnant”.

She made the decision to leave the United States and head home alone ready to sing, in Australia and build a new life, as an Aussie artist and single mum. It has been a successful decision.

‘I Thought It Was You’ is the second single lifted from her forthcoming album, ‘Brand New Day’ and follows her previous radio hit ‘Fame’ from September 2023.

Produced and recorded by Andrew Beck at Damien Gerard Studios in Gosford, the track includes guest appearances by notable musicians Ashley Naylor (Even, Paul Kelly, The Church) on guitar and Evan Mannell (Missy Higgins) on drums.

Natalie has been moving more and more toward country music. The new song really defines Natalie as completely versatile, as she is someone who can write catchy pop country cross over melodies and hooks. As deep as this song is, Natalie has captured the essence of joy and positive exhilaration even in the midst of heartache.

“It’s a song that I’m sure, many of us can all relate to, in a world where finding a lasting relationship is like a finding a diamond in the rough” adds Natalie.

‘I Thought It Was You’ is available from all digital platforms on Friday 2nd February. The new album, ‘Brand New Day’ is scheduled for a March release.
